Jocelyne Delannoye

67 years old
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 18 years ago, she lives in Agde (34).
Stage of the disease: quite advanced.
How did you meet Sebastien and Jordan ?

Friends let me know about the publication of an article in the Midi Libre telling about the device. I purchased it and sent right away an email to Sebastien in the wake. (His email address was mentioned at the end of the article). He called me back thirty minutes later.

What do you think of current treatments ?

My medication is very heavy and at the same time quite limited. In fact I have many allergies therefore I cannot stand all types of drugs.

Regarding surgical treatments, I had the benefit from a neurostimulation during one month (a 10 hour surgery to implant electrodes in the brain, connected to a box placed under the skin) but I had to stop after one month because of an infection. I had contracted a Staphylococcus.

As a patient suffering from Parkinson’s, what are your symptoms ?
What is your current lifestyle ? What changed since have been ill ?

Today I can only move with a walking-aid. Without it, I can’t even lift the feet up. I can only move when I am wearing socks and dragging my feet on the ground.
I often fall down. Today once more I fell three times. Since the onset of the disease, I broke my knee, I removed the biceps muscle, I broke a tendon as well as my sternum, I opened my head, my eyelid…

When you were told about WalkMe device, what was your reaction ?
Did you believe in it at once ? Have you been suspicious ?

When my friends called me to let me tell me about this device, I ran out of my house without even putting my coat on? I ran as much as I could to meet them. I was enthusiastic from the very beginning !

What happened during the test ?

I tested the device 3 times. During the first test, I walked “my hands in my pockets” without any help nor walking-aid. I even walked backwards ! I couldn’t believe it. Neither my husband could ! We both burst into tears.

During the second test, I walked for 2 km without trampling even once.

The third test took place one week ago at a meeting in Béziers where I participated and during which several patients gathered as well as helpers and caregivers. I had the chance to test the unit again. I danced with my wife in front of everybody.

What was people’s reaction during these different tests ?

At the meeting mentioned above, the medical and paramedical staff and paramedical were particularly suspicious at the beginning, even thinking that patients were conspiring with the start-up and that Sebastien and Jordan were quacks. But after witnessing about 10 trial runs, I think everybody is now aware of WalkMe true effectiveness.

Regarding my husband he is looking forward to the commercialization of this device as soon as possible to see me more autonomous and feel more secure about me.

On the other hand, I talked about WalkMe to a friend living in the North and who also suffers from Parkinson’s. He is very enthusiastic too. He must have a deep brain stimulation surgery in a few months but if WalkMe proves to be effective he won’t have it.

Did you make any remark, did you give any advice to Sebastien and Jordan after using WalkMe in order to improve its effectiveness and so that they can meet your needs ?

No. Although some patients may be potentially bothered by the noise from the device at the temples.

However my husband asked Sebastien and Jordan to take-up a challenge: to do everything they can so I can walk some day with my grandchildren by the seaside !

How do you intend to use the device?
Daily? From time to time?

All time.

What about the price?

We can’t put a price on health.

Any word to define WalkMe device?

I am speechless.
